The top restaurant in My CityCenter in Al Dhait is a Gazebo. And while there sure is no shortage of Indian restaurants in Ras al Khaimah, this is one you might want to visit: In general the food is good and some of the dishes I tested were outstanding.
The interior is nice, but the atmosphere is still that of a restaurant in a shopping center. There is quite a lot of service personal, but still the service was not as good as the food. Be aware, that you have to order everything you want, i.e. that some of the usual things you would expect to go with a dish automatically might not be included.
The restaurant in RAK is the 19th Gazebo branch in the UAE. And the prices look like what I would call “Dubai prices”, so compared to other restaurants in Ras al Khaimah, they are significantly higher.
On The Wood opened a franchise outlet in RAK. After first testing some of the food, I took a closer look at the place and noticed several of their marketing slogans hanging on the wall. And indeed these slogans go right to the point: “The oven is the heart of every bakery” and “Love at first mankousche” (I really loved it!).
On The Wood has a somewhat special concept, combining Italien and Lebanese cuisine. And while I didn’t yet check the Italien part of the menu (i.e. the pasta and the pizzas), all in all the impression was quite good. So I can definitely recommend that you give the place a try.
Compared to other Lebanese restaurants the prices might seem a bit high (a manakish costs up to 24 AED), compared to other Italien restaurants the prices are fairly moderate (a pizza costs from 28 to 49 AED).
The interior is that of a typical franchise outlet, which is ok but nothing noteworthy. For my taste the music was too loud and added to the slightly uncomfortable atmosphere.
See www.onthewood.com for the menu. (They haven’t added RAK to their website, but the menu seems to be the same in all UAE branches.)
Note: There is no outlet on the Airport road, as some maps show erroneously.
There are quite a lot of places where you can get a fairly good pizza in Ras al Khaimah and especially in and around Al Hamra. So I didn’t expect to get one of the best pizzas in a franchise outlet in a mall. But Pizzaexpress in Al Hamra Mall does a really good job.
They do offer various discounts (Al Hamra VIP card, The Entertainer App, 2-for-1 on weekdays at lunchtime). With the discounts, the prices are somewhat reasonable; the normal price (up to AED 84 for a pizza) is significantly higher than in the other good pizza restaurants in the area – and the atmosphere is after all that of a (good) franchise outlet in a mall.
You will find Pizzaexpress at the north end of Al Hamra Mall on the ground floor, i.e. below the food court. For reservations call 07 221 1175 or visit www.pizzaexpress.ae
